The inception of handcrafted Invicta watches was in 1837, when it became known that the finest of all Swiss movements could be available to the public for a modest price that everyone could afford. Even the name, Invicta, which was founded in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland, by Raphael Picard, is Latin for invincible. As was the case with many Swiss companies, the brand almost disappeared during the quartz invasion in the early 1970’s. However, in 1991, the descendants of the Invicta family got together and re-introduced the brand by keeping the founding principle and recognizing they could provide a large watch-savvy public access to the Swiss quality and refinements they yearned for.
