The inception of handcrafted Invicta watches was in 1837, when it became known that the finest of all Swiss movements could be available to the public for a modest price that everyone could afford. With that same maverick spirit, the company today has grown and Invicta watches are worshipped by collectors, and feared by the rest of the watchmaking industry. Even the name, Invicta, which was founded in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland, by Raphael Picard, is Latin for invincible. For more than a century this small company has created manual and automatic winding timepieces with sleek, extraordinary designs. As was the case with many Swiss companies, the brand almost disappeared during the quartz invasion in the early 1970ís. However, in 1991, the descendants of the Invicta family got together and re-introduced the brand by keeping the founding principle and recognizing they could provide a large watch-savvy public access to the Swiss quality and refinements they yearned for. Thirteen years later, the Invicta Watch Group has turned into one of the fastest growing watch company in the business and has sparked a movement that turns the balance of power with its introduction of its Angel, Pro Diver and Elite lines, among others.
